'KŌSTEL is the Japanese spelling for coastal. Coastal Japanese romance is the inspiration behind this concept.

For me it all started with the lanterns. When I arrived at Avideas they had the round silk lanterns laid out on the floor and I was in love before the team had even styled them! The big round white silky shapes in all different sizes really created the mood I was after. Very impactful for not much effort.

Then I added in a long black table, natural bench seating, oat linen, large, medium and small candles, white coral, amber glassware and The Beach People natural napkins. The outcome was modern coastal Japanese luxe. The burning candles and dried white flowers added a beautiful touch of drama and romance.

I loved the contrast between the black lounges and white lanterns. This look would suit any event - a wedding, a birthday or special occasion.
